This is an introductory class to competitive shooting based on the IDPA rulebook, NOT an introductory class to learn how to use your firearm.  The prerequisite for this class is as follows:  to understand and follow the 4 universal firearm safety rules, have familiarity with your firearm and know how to safely draw from a holster which must be worn on the strong side outside the waistband, have knowledge of malfunctions and how to clear them.  A 9mm .40cal or 45 auto caliber semi-automatic handgun is ideal for this class. However, other calibers can be used.  Note: Use of 380ACP or 38SPL can be used for this class. However there are disadvantages to using lower capacity firearms for this class and there are rules in competitive matches where they would not be admissible depending on the division in which you are competing. This is a 4 week long course held every Thursday in April from 9am-12pm.  Cost is $165 ($125 plus a $10 weekly range fee per person).
