Interactive Video Based Judgement Simulator Training

This course provides hands-on training in tactical movement within a home or other structures, followed by integration of these skills using a state-of-the-art computer simulator. Training utilizes an inert, laser-enabled, recoiling handgun for realism and safety.

Students will engage in multiple "shoot/don’t shoot" video scenarios designed to test judgment under pressure. Each scenario is recorded and reviewed during an after-action critique. Instructors dynamically adjust outcomes based on student behavior, creating one of the most realistic and effective methods for evaluating use-of-force knowledge and stress performance.

Note:

The live-firearm portion of the course is dependent upon winter cold weather conditions. If the temperatures are not favorable or safe for shooting, then the indoor computer simulator will be used.

Course Topics:

  • Firearms safety rules for handguns

  • Ammunition types and safety considerations

  • The fundamentals of pistol shooting

  • How to effectively stop a threat

  • Handgun cleaning and maintenance

Students with firearms experience:

If you have previously completed a Basic Handgun Course at MTFI or can demonstrate equivalent proficiency and understanding of firearms safety, you are eligible to participate in the live-fire drills.

Students without firearm experience:

If you have not taken a Basic Handgun Course including live-fire, we will provide classroom instruction to ensure you can handle your firearm safely and confidently. Prior live-fire experience with a handgun is recommended for this course.

By the end of this course, you’ll have developed the critical skills, judgment, and confidence needed to navigate and respond to high-stress situations—making it one of the most practical and immersive use-of-force training experiences available.

American Citizenship or US Citizen Legal Resident Green Card is required to take this course.
