Active Shooter Response Training for Church Security Teams

This in-depth training course equips church leaders and designated team members with practical, effective strategies to enhance safety, prevent crime, and respond to threats within a faith-based environment. Designed with both spiritual integrity and legal responsibility in mind, this course helps congregations establish or strengthen church safety and security teams while aligning with Montana state laws and best practices.

Participants will receive expert instruction from former law enforcement officers and Montana State licensed instructors on how to recognize and respond to both external and internal threats, while building a team and system that supports safety, accountability, and legal compliance.

• Proactive threat recognition (internal and external)

• Crime prevention strategies tailored to faith-based settings

• Understanding general and vicarious liability in church environments

• Forming and organizing church safety/security teams

• Establishing standards for team member selection and responsibilities

• Crafting a mission statement, goals, and measurable objectives

• Building a chain-of-command and maintaining team personnel/training files

• Continuing education and training documentation

• Montana’s mandatory reporting laws for church staff and employees

• Understanding and complying with privileged communications

• Monitoring the Montana State Sexual or Violent Offender Registry (SOVR)

• Gathering and utilizing local crime statistics

• Developing a critical incident management plan

• Coordinating effectively with law enforcement and emergency responders

• Navigating media inquiries and preparing for potential litigation
